What to do when you get to a new country:

1. Update license most especially if u are doing a professional job such as Pharmacist, Doctor,Nurse,Engineer, Teacher,Lawyer etc:
You will need a new professional license and a new driver's license.

If your former license is in another language different from the international lingua franca of the new country (e.g. English, Arabic, French, German, Chinese, Spanish and so on), I recommend that you obtain an international driving permit from your country before you leave and get a qualified language translator to interpret your both your professional license and the driver's license to the new country acceptable language.

It will assist to you when applying for a new license and also assist police should you get stopped in any place.

Proceeds to the required licensing board in your new country, make sure you get all your document ready and get a your license within 90 days.

It's very important because it shows that you are eligible resident of such country and in case of any eventuality with the company that recruited you from country, you can seek another good job within the country.

2. Get your insurance :
Insurance is a way of managing risks. When you buy insurance, you transfer the cost of a potential loss to the insurance company in exchange for a fee, known as the premium. Insurance companies invest the funds securely, so it can grow, and pay out when there’s a claim.
According to Cooperators.com http://www.cooperators.ca/en/Answer-Centre/how-does-insurance-work/why-do-we-need-insurance.aspx

Insurance helps you:

Own a home, because mortgage lenders need to know your home is protected
Drive vehicles, because few people could afford the repairs, health care costs and legal expenses associated with collisions and injuries without coverage
Maintain your current standard of living if you become disabled or have a critical illness
Cover health care costs like prescription drugs, dental care, vision care and other health-related items
Provide for your family in the event of a death
Run a small business or family farm by managing the risks of ownership
Take vacations without worrying about flight cancellations or other potential issues

3. Don't let the work took over time to finish your proper document into your new job system:
Proper documentation with your new company is necessary.
Don't get carried away with the welcoming activities and schedule at work. Assuming your shift at work is. Very tight and it makes you to suspend your documentation at the initial stage, please don't be too shy to request from your head of department that you need an adjustment to the roaster, so that you could finish your paper work on time. If your paper work is not completed you may not get paid at the end of the month and it will also hinder many other things!

Note: it's your right to get your paper work done within 30 days in your new company and always remember that nobody except you have things at stake.
You are on your own if you can't make a polite request!.

4. Take your time to settle down in your new country:
One of the best ways to settle in quickly is to make your new house as ‘homely’ as possible so that it feels like somewhere you can belong.

Hope you this is useful!

Migrate safe!
