There are different self-development and exchange programs available, spanning various categories, particularly in the Department of Foreign Affairs, Some of these include: career counseling, guide for studying in US, professional sponsorship programs e.g. sponsoring experience teachers to USA for short course, enlightening students on how to get scholarship to study in USA and a whole lot more.
An example of such program is the Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders inaugurated by President Obama in 2010 and which has now been renamed The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders

The Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is a program of the U.S. government and supported in its implementation by IREX.
