GIST Tech-I Competition on Global Innovation, 2015.

Tech-I is part of the Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) Initiative and is an annual entrepreneurship competition which seeks to identify exciting young scientists, inventors, and great minds from around the world. Tech-I Competition is designed to encourage and support technology and science entrepreneurs to launch and/or grow a company through: Training and mentorship with successful Entrepreneurs, Scientists, Angel investors and Venture capitalists networking opportunities and access to capital.
This year citizens from 86 countries are eligible to apply in the four sectors of Agriculture, Energy, Health, and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

All applications will be reviewed by experts and voted on by the global voting public in order to determine the finalists. Thirty finalists will receive an all-expense paid trip to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), this year in sub-Saharan Africa, to showcase their ventures and to receive intensive training. Tech-I winners, selected by experts will win mini-grants Awards up to $15,000 USD, and receive one-on-one mentorship and training.

Tech-I accepts applications in the four subject areas of Agriculture, Energy, Health, and Information Communication Technology.

  •  Energy – Tech-I is looking for energy-related science and technology innovations
  • Health – Tech-I is looking for health-related science and technology innovations, including low-cost diagnostic equipment or tests; mobile access to health expertise, especially specialists; ways to test and purify drinking water; new medical devices such as low-cost prosthetics; and innovative prevention and treatment methods for common diseases.
  •   ICT – Tech-I is looking for Information Communication Technology (ICT)-related science and technology innovations

Application For Global Health Short Course At The Imperial College London.

The Imperial College is one of the world’s leading research universities.
Imperial College London is the only UK university to focus entirely on science, engineering, medicine and business.

The global health short course is a yearly course in the department of public health at the Imperial College London. It's a five-days course which provides an introduction to the global health and its challenges. 
The course include series of lectures, debates, discussions and small group work that will cover a wide range of global health related topics. It is an interactive course aims at giving opportunity to broaden participants knowledge on global health issues, including tropical diseases and infections.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS):

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world's most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration. IELTS is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. 

The Test is recognized by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. It is also recognized by professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies. It is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia. IELTS is an international standard 
language assessment Platform.

IELTS has two modules to choose from – Academic and General Training.
IELTS Academic is for test takers wishing to study at undergraduate or postgraduate levels, and for those seeking professional registration.

IELTS General Training is for test takers wishing to migrate to an English-speaking country (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK), and for those wishing to train or study at below degree level. 
Every organization usually sets their own entry requirements.

The test examine all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking, unless you have an exemption due to a disability. Everyone takes the same Listening and Speaking tests.
There are different Reading and Writing tests for IELTS Academic and General Training. The Listening, Reading and Writing tests must be completed on the same day. There are no breaks between these three tests. The Speaking test may be taken up to seven days before or after the other three tests.

How to interpret your score:
You will be given a score from 1 to 9 for each part of the test – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The average produces your overall band score. You can score whole (e.g., 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half (e.g., 5.5., 6.5, 7.5) bands in each part of the test.

Win EF Academic Scholarship for Educators, 2015.

Fast Pathway to Canada,2015.

The Canadian government have commenced the new immigration system, Express Entry Immigration System for Federal Skilled Immigrants starting from January 1, 2015.

The Federal Skilled Workers cut across 347 eligible National Occupational Classification (NOC) occupations (Level 0, A and B). Most completed applications would be processed within 6 months.

This new system will accommodate 3 categories of Programs:

The Federal Skilled Worker Program
The Federal Skilled Trades Program
The Canadian Experience Class

The New Express System Has 2 Steps:

People will first fill out an online Express Entry Profile. This includes their language test scores, their Educational Credential Assessment (if they need one) and outlines their work experience. There is no cost to complete and submit an Express Entry profile. After completing this, you are entered into the pool of potential immigrants.

Then you will fill out an Express Entry profile to say something about your:
Identity, Contact Information, Education in more detail, Work experience in more detail, Language, Family who would come with you to Canada (dependents)

Things you will need:

Your passport or travel document
NOC job title and code
Language test results (either IELTS, CELPIP or TEF)
Educational Credential Assessment result
A copy of your written job offer from an employer in Canada (if you have one)
A copy of your provincial nomination (if you have one) and
Your personal reference code from the Canadian government website where you log in (It looks like this: JM1234567890)

Note: Completing an online Express Entry profile or entering the pool does not guarantee that you will get an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.

Based on their profiles, candidates will be ranked against others in a pool. On a regular basis, CIC will issue invites to top candidates from the pool to apply for permanent residence. Top candidates will be invited to apply and will then be able to apply online for permanent residence. Only those who get an Invitation to Apply from CIC will be able to apply

Applicant must have at least one year continuous full time/part-time paid employment experience within the previous 10 years in one of the 347 eligible occupations listed under the applicable National Occupation Classification

The work experience must be classified within Skill Type 0 (Managerial Occupations), Skill Level A (Professional Occupations), or Skill Level B (Technical Occupations and Skilled Trades) within the National Occupational Classification system

Score at least 67 points in the skilled worker point grid which constitutes six selection determinants

Have a suitable settlement fund and

Undergo a successful security background and medical examination.

Application for the UNAOC-EF Summer School, 2015.

The UNAOC-EF Summer School is the result of a collaboration between two organizations committed to bridging cultural divides - the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and EF Education First.
The Summer School is a unique space for learning and collaborating that welcomes a diversity of participants, speakers and educators from a wide range of contexts.
Seventy-five (75) participants will be selected across the globe by a committee composed of youth along with UNAOC and EF staff.  
The UNAOC - EF Summer School takes place from 13 June 2015 to 20 June 2015 on the campus of the EF International Language Center in Tarrytown, New York. 

 The Summer School seeks to:
·         Facilitate moments of encounter, exchange and skill-building between young people;
·         Strengthen young people’s capacity to get involved in the preparation and implementation of joint action across divides;
·         Support youth in maximizing their impact as they bring about social change;
·         Promote collaborative relationships between people from diverse backgrounds;
·         Develop a network of alumni and make it a true platform for joint action to help address global challenges.

In order to be considered eligible to apply, you must fulfill all of the following criteria:

·         Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old on 13 June 2015 — the start of the UNAOC - EF Summer School.
·         Be linked to an organization or a network (e.g. youth council, youth NGO, non-profit organization, youth-led organization, community organization, faith-based organization, youth network or platform, college, university, social entrepreneur, blogger, etc.)
·         Hold a passport valid until at least January 2016 (for a visa to be issued, a passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months after the expected date of entry into the country).
·         Possess upper-intermediate English proficiency.

Selected participants of the UNAOC - EF Summer School 2014 will be provided with the following:
·         International travel to and from the international airport closest to their residence,
·         Cost of USA visa processing, if applicable (if the participant needs a visa to enter the USA,
·         Shared accommodation (triple or quadruple rooms with participants of the same gender) while in Tarrytown,
·         Meals during the official portions of the Summer School,
·         Full event access during the entire week of the Summer School,
·         Shuttles from and to the airport in New York City,
·         The cost of US and transit visas (if applicable),
·         The cost of vaccinations required to enter the US (if applicable), and
·         International travel insurance while traveling from their residence to the Tarrytown campus until their return home from the program.

The last day to complete your application to attend the UNAOC - EF Summer School is 9th of March 2015 at 23:59 New York City local time.

Application for TechWomen Award, 2015.

TechWomen is a professional mentorship and exchange program developed in response to President Obama’s efforts to strengthen relations between the United States and the Middle East and Africa.

TechWomen is an Initiative of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ (ECA) mission is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchange that assist in the development of peaceful relations. 
TechWomen empowers, connects, and supports the next generation of women leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) from Africa, Central Asia, and the Middle East by providing them the access and opportunity needed to advance their careers, pursue their dreams, and inspire women and girls in their communities.

Requirement for 2015 TechWomen Award:

TechWomen participants are selected based on the eligibility requirements below.
Applicants must

1. Be women with, at minimum, two years full-time professional experience in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math)
2. Have, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree/four year university degree or equivalent
3. Be proficient in written and spoken English
4. Be citizens and permanent residents of Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, the Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, or Zimbabwe at the time of application, and while participating in the program
5. Be eligible to obtain a U.S. J-1 exchange visitor visa
6. Not have applied for an immigrant visa to the United States, or participated in a visa lottery in the past five years
7. Not hold U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. legal permanent resident

  • Demonstrate themselves as emerging leaders in their chosen professional track through their work
  • experience, volunteer experience, community activities, and education
  • Are committed to return to their home countries to share what they have learned and mentor women and girls
  • Have limited or no prior experience in the United States

  • Have a demonstrated track record of entrepreneurialism and commitment to innovation
  • Demonstrate a willingness to participate in exchange programs, welcome opportunities for mentoring and new partnership development, and exhibit confidence and maturity.

Pathway for Foreign Trained Doctors to Australia

International medical graduates (IMGs) whose medical qualifications are from a medical institution outside of Australia or New Zealand, and who are seeking registration to practise medicine in Australia, must provide evidence of eligibility to undertake one of the following assessment pathways:

1. Competent Authority Pathway
2. Standard Pathway
3. Specialist Pathway.

This section provides important information for IMGs with basic medical qualifications and/or specialist qualifications who want to find out about the assessment pathways, including eligibility requirements, application processes, documentation requirements and methods of assessment.

Role of the Australian Medical Council
All IMGs must apply to the Australian Medical Council (AMC) for primary source verification of their medical qualifications, regardless of which of the three assessment pathways are being pursued. The AMC will verify their medical qualifications through the ECFMG International Credentials Services (EICS).

The AMC conducts the assessment process for IMGs in the Standard Pathway only; it does not conduct assessments in the competent authority or specialist pathways.

The AMC has no role in processing applications for registration or in granting registration, which is a function of the Medical Board of Australia (the Board).
